I remember in my early twenties when I first started working in a nursing home. There are some patients who stick with you, especially in your first years. I had patients with skin cancer and folks who had strokes, but there was one patient who had had polio when she was a child. It was the first time I’d ever seen anyone up close with that type of disability. She had one side of her body stunted, the toddler-size leg and arm she had when she got polio, that never grew another inch. The other side of her body had fully grown into the adult she became. Obviously she’d never been able to walk and was confined to a wheelchair for the majority of her life. I can remember how sad I felt for her.

I remember the selfish relief I felt knowing that polio had been eradicated in the United States and my son, who was a toddler at the time, wouldn’t have to fear it, or the possibility of an iron lung.
The insanity of the current United States federal health care authorities has far too many young people and new families questioning science, and trusting the moron without a medical degree who put fear into their hearts on vaccine safety for the first time in over 50 years, Kennedy.
The United States is losing children to measles. There have been cases of whooping cough across the country. It’s a horrible sound, what you hear when a child can’t breathe, and that whooping sound that comes with it.
I’m horrified by what is happening to the American health care system. Besides the vaccine distrust, countless adults will become sick and die because they skipped vaccination or didn’t listen to their doctor, but instead listened to Robert Kennedy tell them to just eat better, as if food fixes genetics.
They shut down cancer research and treatment for children, leaving kids to go to hospice instead of getting the medication or treatment used in the study. That lifeline was cut, especially for the working class who can’t afford thousands for one medication and still be able to eat and keep the lights on.
There has never been a more consequential election in my lifetime than this November. These ballots will make the difference between life and death for potentially millions of people across our country.
We need sanity in healthcare. We need the people at the top to not be profiting off of the very insurance companies that deny us access to our healthcare. Kennedy and Dr. Oz have got to go for the sake of saving lives. They have got to go. It’s your duty to vote, to make sure that your neighbors can get to the polls and vote. To make sure that we quickly get a hold of this country’s healthcare before we needlessly lose any more people.
Vote for human dignity and medical science. Vote blue on November 3rd. Our lives depend on it.
