When the plan to bar medical bills from credit reports happened, I was at the White House for the announcement.
It was a bipartisan action at the time. The head of the agency was a Trump appointee. I met him, he really seemed to care. I thought Trump did good with this guy. Now Trump fired him and decided billion dollar corporations are more important to protect than American citizens.
When I was there I heard a man’s story who had done everything right in life and he had a near 800 credit score. Then he got sick and found himself with so many bills to juggle, even with monthly payments it all hit his credit report.
It ruined him to the point where he could no longer qualify to replace the car that was getting him back and forth to treatments. He had to travel for treatments because that’s where his insurance said he needed to go.
He did everything right and despite it all one illness ruined everything.
If you think eating right and exercising will prevent that from happening to you, you’re truly naive.
Nobody gets out of this world alive remember that. Eventually it will be you and perhaps if you’re lucky you’ll drop dead in a moment and not end up racking up tens of thousands of dollars of medical bills.
IF your lucky.
